In the last two days Eco Tuk has made three more converted tuktuks available to local tuktuk drivers, so that they can experience the Eco Tuk conversion. So far the operation has run smoothly, with the system saving up to 25% on fuel, the driveability being equal to petrol-based vehicles, and no technical hitches.
What’s more, the business is taking shape faster all the time!

In the last few weeks Eco Tuk has converted twelve 4-stroke auto-rickshaws. After intensive testing by the team and an Alliance employee we are proud to announce that the first Eco Tuk is now driving around the streets of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Remains to be seen if the local drivers like the Eco Tuk as much as we do!
The first mileage indications look very promising! We shall keep you all posted.
Yesterday Eco Tuk converted three auto-rickshaws in Colombo. We started with one older 175cc 4-stroke and tuned it properly. The driver’s first reactions were very positive! He was delighted with the sustained, or should we say higher, level of performance of the rickshaw. After Gholam and Ruben had finished converting a newer 175cc 4-stroke rickshaw we tried the same mapping on the newer model, and the first impressions were that it too was working properly. We are now testing it to be sure. We have also started converting the one 4-stroke 205cc, which is looking quite promising too.
After today we shall probably also have some local emission testing done, so are looking forward to the results of that as well.
Eco Tuk B.V. has arrived in Sri Lanka after a long journey. The apartment we are staying in is very nice (we will publish some photos later on). Yesterday we went to the local customs, and after some stressful hours managed to get our shipment of parts released. Rick and Gholam have now started converting the auto-rickshaws. The first TukTuk we are converting is a 4-stroke model. Hoping for the best..!
